In an internet flooded with 3D Graphics and fast paced games there exists an online MMORPG that *gasp* has no graphics, no sound, and yet holds by far the best roleplaying found on the internet. It is called a TORG or Text Only Roleplaying Game. What is a TORG and why is it so exclusive that it is like that secret small resturaunt you find and keep the location from all but your closest friends? A TORG gains its popularity by the intense roleplay that every player invests in a game, something impossible to find in Graphic Games (believe me most players at New Worlds Ateraan have played them and will swear by this).
So what?! You say. Who cares?! I like my graphics and sound and running around with 13 year olds. Okay then don’t read further and go to the next thread. BUT, if you are tired of the hack and slash and limited depth in the flood of graphic games, I encourage you to at least spend a few days on New Worlds Ateraan. Try it out, see if you can roleplay and see if you find the intensity that is hard to find elsewhere. With just as many women players as men, it’s hard to beat this intense roleplaying environment.

This is a good game, but far from the best RP focused game in the text only world. If you’re looking for a good combination between RP and hack and slash, however, this is the way to go. Just enough of a blend to please fans of both genres, but if you are really looking for more RP focused play, I’d suggest going deeper. RPI’s and MUSH’s are a good place to look.

This entry should be listed as “MUDs/MUSHes” instead of one in particular. There are many available and NWA is just one of many. See http://www.mudconnect.com or maybe http://www.topmudsites.com for links to others. I myself prefer Armageddon or Carrion Fields.
