Pop over and take a look... http://www.quakelive.com/ Register and download a small client, only takes a moment. Once in a 10 min game against the computer and your back in the swing of things. During this quick game your performance is noted, this is good becuase when you stumble into your first online games, with upto 15 other people fighting it out, your pitched with player of a similar skill level to yourself.
The CPU warms you up, and checks you out before easing you into online chaos!
It moves very fast, you'll need your mouse for sure. The guy above killed me several times. :(
