Wojtek is enthused about this tetris style online puzzle “Colour Triplets” and quite rightly too! A pretty simple casual game yet nicely done. It uses OpenGL so make sure you have proper drivers installed. You can find more games on this site that run nicely on netbooks, but this one is, in my opinion, the best one. The site offers online rankings, but there is little competition (at least for now). Unfortunately you cannot check your high-score in game – it opens your default web browser and you have to register in the service in order to play, but registertion is free and quick & painless.
Killer Valve offering Portal is currently Free on Steam! Here grab it and install it on your netbook! You have heard of Portal yeah? Its a strange mix of FPS, Platform and Puzzle. Kind of. Its quite compelling, you play from a FPS perspective, trapped in a small roomed puzzle defying gravity, and seemingly logic, to escape and move onto the next bizzare room. You do have a toy, a rather smart Portal Gun capable of creating, yeah you guessed, a portal (or hole!) which enables you to teleport around your space in an effort to move onto the next trap. Physics plays its part, seeing objects that go thru a portal come steaming out of, er.. well the portal exit! Sounds odd? Its is, buts its strangely addictive and includes some top class production values, courtesy of Valve.
Its a pretty good game regardless of the fact its currently free, we urge you to put Portal on your Netbook and see for yourself!

The Definitive Shooter that defined the first person shooter category. the plot involves a wormhole experiment that goes wrong and opens a portal to hell on the moons of mars. This is the 4 episode retail edition witch includes an prequel episode to Doom 2. The game runs great on a net-book and is still a great play you can get the game on steam in a dosbox wrapper or extract the doom wad file and use a source port to run the game naively in windows. A kid friendly game from the programmer who created Duke Nukem. In this side scroll-er you control Cosmo an alien with suction cup hands on his way to visit Disney World with his parents. That is, until their ship is struck by a blazing comet, forcing them to land on an uncharted planet. While his Dad repairs the ship, Cosmo heads off to explore the strange planet.
